We are now exhibiting women’s drawings against violence digitally: art.mavikalem.org

To keep the violence that women are subjected to just because they are women on the agenda and to enable women to express their reactions to violence through painting, we carried out a project: “Art Against Violence” project. Within the scope of this 2023 project, women in Istanbul, Adana and Hatay earthquake zones painted against violence. We exhibited these paintings produced by 129 women who participated in the workshops in Istanbul and Adana. We created a web page to make these paintings against violence visible digitally: https://art.mavikalem.org/

Within the scope of the project supported by the Embassy of Turkey in Ireland, 10 different workshops were organised throughout the year in cooperation with municipalities in Istanbul, Adana and Hatay. These workshops were implemented by Painter-Sculptor Meryem Tomak. The 12 large-scale paintings produced in the workshops and the photographs taken during the workshops were exhibited in Istanbul-Büyükada and Adana-Seyhan. All details about the paintings, workshops and exhibitions can be found on the project’s web page.
