Stronger Together on March 8th: Learning from One Another in Solidarity

As demands for equality and rights for women and girls rise all over the world, we have a long way to go today.

More than 600 million women and girls worldwide live in regions affected by war and crises. Disasters, political crises, and wars—through the waves of migration and displacement they trigger—further restrict women’s access to safety, healthcare, housing, and education.

In 2025, 391 women were murdered by men in Turkey. [1] In our country, where 42 out of every 100 women are subjected to violence at some point in their lives, our demand for equality is not an abstract concept; it is a direct demand for our right to live.

As a women’s organization, we have been working for 25 years to strengthen access to rights and protection from violence for disadvantaged women and girls, as well as those affected by disasters. As a part of the struggle for women’s equality and rights, we structure our work through solidarity practices and place learning from one another at our core.

In the civil society sector we operated in during 2025, we:

  • supported the fulfillment of basic needs for women and children affected by disasters,
  • empowered women producers, entrepreneurs, and farmers to develop their businesses and generate income,
  • provided support to women and girls subjected to violence through counseling and referral activities,
  • implemented the ‘Women Write Beautiful Stories’ workshops, where women subjected to violence learn about their rights and options from one another,
  • conducted workshops aimed at helping girls and boys respect their differences,
  • provided legal and psychological counseling.

In our country, where war is at our doorstep and our rights and achievements are repeatedly subject to debate, we believe that solidarity and learning from one another are more vital than ever today.

For women to live in a just, free and equal world, #WeAreAddingOurOwnColorToLife

Long live March 8th!
